"Strokeland
is proud to have Chad Rager in our roster of stars. Good material, good arrangements, good performances from a big band. Groups
like these are becoming increasingly more rare in today's economic climate and we hope the Chad Rager Groove survives and thrives for many years to come. If you haven't heard 21ST CENTURY GROOVE, please get it ... you will like it." Stephen 'Doc' Kupka - President, Strokeland Records
"Strokeland Records is excited to welcome the Chad Rager Groove. This is a high-energy big band that's not afraid to tackle any style of music and add their own special flair. Chad Rager anchors the group with a strong drumming style reminiscent of some of the finest big band drummers, yet adds his own innovative groove."
***** WOW! What a knock out. I really enjoyed listening to your music. Amazing chops, Chad. Must be a powerhouse live.Super great stuff! Thanks for sharing this witlh me, Jack Dougas* Producer, July 22, 2010 * (*Producer for John Lennon, Miles Davis to name a few)
***** JAZZIZ MAGAZINE With a name like the CHAD RAGER GROOVE, a band almost has a sacred obligation to cook like it was on the season finale of "Top Chef". And certainly, the hard-charging octet led by drummer Rager does just that on "21st Century Groove" (Strokeland), turning up the burners from the jump on this live set and never letting the pilot light dim. Taking inspiration from the likes of Louie Bellson and Buddy Rich, Rager drives the little big band from his seat behind the drum kit, as the aggregate works out on tunes from Louis Prima's swing classic "Sing, Sing, Sing" to Sammy Nestico's "The Heat's On". We've included the Rager band's quickstepping read of Thelonious Monk's "Straight, No Chaser" as an apt example of its dynamic ensemble work.
***** “Chad and I share a deep respect for the brilliant jazz drumming of past artists such as Buddy Rich, and this influence comes through in Chad's fabulous playing. But Chad also has been influenced by modern day drumming as well, such as his appreciation for artists such as David Garibaldi.
